HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE REALIZING POSITIVE LONG-TERM RESULTS

If there are no positive results from reading God's Word, no real benefit has been realized. A "positive benefit" is one that is productive. It is the fruit that grows for you to eat. God-blessed activities always yield God-blessed results! It is never pointless to willingly subject your mind to God's Word in faith. It is never fruitful to handle God's Word in a state of general disinterest, or out of a sense of obligation. The results that are realized must be "long-term." You are being readied to spend eternity with God, and the Word of God is designed to work in you to that end.

Reading the Word of God is one of the primary means of feeding your soul. It is also a way in which the Lord speaks to you. When you expose your mind to Scripture, you are exploring the mine of truth, digging in a field loaded with precious gems. You are pointed toward heaven when considering the Lord's Word. Your ears become capable of hearing from heaven, and your heart becomes sensitive to Divine influences. But, if you do not know these things, reading your Bible will become nothing more than an academic exercise. In such a case, no eternal benefit will be realized. The Word of God is not a manual of conduct or a textbook on theology. If it is read as though it were, the heavens will become like brass to you. Read it believing, and soon you will be receiving.
